House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) is issuing a subpoena to Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

On Friday, Jordan noted allegations from a whistleblower that Willis’ office “misused federal funding.”

Specifically, he cited an allegation her office “unlawfully ‘planned to use part of a $488,000 federal grant… to cover frivolous, unrelated expenses.'”

The allegation claims Willis’ office planned to spend federal funds to “get Macbooks… swag [and] use it for travel.”

Jordan added, “These allegations raise serious concerns about whether you were appropriately supervising the expenditure of federal grant funding allocated to your office and whether you took actions to conceal your office’s unlawful use of federal funds.”

The former employee who made the allegations was reportedly demoted after issuing a warning against misusing federal funds. They were then allegedly “abruptly terminated.”

Jordan’s subpoena directs her to turn over “all documents and communications referring or relating to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office’s receipt and use of federal funds, including but not limited to, federal funds from the Department of Justice’s Office Programs, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, and Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.”

In a statement, Willis denied the allegations, saying, “These false allegations are included in baseless litigation filed by a holdover employee from the previous administration who was terminated for cause.”

“The courts that have ruled found no merit in these claims. We expect the same result in any pending litigation,” she continued.

Finally, Willis added, “Any examination of the records of our grant programs will find that they are highly effective and conducted in cooperation with the Department of Justice and in compliance with all Department of Justice requirements. Our federal grant programs are focused on helping at-risk youth and seeking justice for sexual assault victims who were too long ignored.”

The subpoena comes as Willis, who has brought charges against former President Donald Trump, has come under fire amid allegations she improperly hired her romantic partner to be the prosecutor in that case.
