The Buffalo Bills’ locker room was buzzing Sunday night, not just because of a dramatic comeback win, but because of a milestone moment unfolding off the field for their franchise quarterback.
According to PEOPLE, Josh Allen capped a remarkable week by leading the Bills back from a 21-point deficit to defeat the New England Patriots 35-31 on Sunday, Dec. 14.
Just two days earlier, Allen and his wife, actress Hailee Steinfeld, revealed they are expecting their first child.
After the game, Allen made it clear that while Steinfeld wasn’t throwing passes or calling plays, her presence has made a real difference in his life.
“I love my wife, she’s my favorite teammate,” Allen, 29, said when asked whether the baby announcement — along with Bills tight end Dalton Knox also becoming a father last week — served as extra motivation.
Allen acknowledged that the pregnancy news itself didn’t come as a shock to him, even if it was new to the public.
“I’ve known for a long time, so it’s not that crazy to me,” he told reporters following the win. “You know it’s a really cool, special moment in my life and my wife’s.”
The Bills’ comeback was one of the most dramatic of the season, with Allen rallying his team after they fell behind early. Buffalo chipped away at the deficit before sealing the win late, underscoring a resilience that has defined the team throughout the year.
Allen and Steinfeld, who married in May during a ceremony in Santa Barbara, California, shared the pregnancy announcement jointly on social media.
The wedding was attended by close family and friends, including several of Allen’s Bills teammates and Curb Your Enthusiasm alum Larry David.
Steinfeld also revealed the news in a more personal way through her Substack newsletter. In honor of her 29th birthday, the actress shared a list of her 29 favorite moments from the past year.
At the end of the list, the Sinners star included a video announcing her pregnancy. In the clip, Steinfeld posed in the snow with her baby bump visible as Allen kissed her stomach. The two smiled and posed together while Steinfeld wore a sweater reading “Mother.”
The video concluded with the couple holding hands in front of a small snowman.
Sunday’s comeback was not the first time Buffalo has erased a large deficit this season. In September, the Bills stunned the Baltimore Ravens with a late rally, a game that prompted Allen to call out fans who left early.
“Our team didn’t quit,” Allen said on the field after that 41-40 victory. “I mean, I think there’s people that left the stadium, that’s okay, we’ll be fine but, have some faith next time.”
Reflecting on that win later, Allen emphasized the collective effort behind Buffalo’s resilience.
“I’m just proud of our team for staying in it,” he said. “No one on the sideline blinked. I mean, down 15 points, whatever we were with five, six minutes left.”
This time, with a growing family and another comeback in the books, Allen walked away with yet another reminder that momentum can come from far more than the scoreboard.
