Speculation into the possibility of Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) running for president is more than $30 million strong.
That’s according too his campaign, which said Shapiro raised over $10 million between October and December 2025, brining last year’s haul to more than $23 million, The Hill reported.
Shapiro, who has been Pennsylvania’s governor since 2023, has received contributions from every county in Pennsylvania and all 50 states.
His campaign boasted Shapiro “raised and the highest ending cash balance during the off-year ahead of an election of any Pennsylvania gubernatorial campaign on record.”
He is currently running for a second term as Pennsylvania governor this fall and is expected to try for the White House in 2028.
Former Vice President Kamala Harris considered him a possible running mate in the 2024 election.
Shapiro lost out to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) as her running mate.
If elected, Shapiro could make history as the first Jewish American president.
Currently, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) is viewed as the top Democrat in the party’s 2028 presidential primary.
Other potential Democrats include Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, and former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
