Fox’s Judge Jeanine Pirro said Monday evening that if the crowd at the major music festival Coachella “weren’t so stoned” over the weekend they would have “booed” Independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders as he appeared onstage.

The 83-year-old took to the stage Saturday, introduced a singer by the name of Clairo and delivered a political speech to thousands of attendees about climate change and workers’ rights. On “The Five,” former Democratic Tennessee Rep. Harold Ford Jr. discussed Sanders’ appearance, suggesting it would have benefited President Donald Trump to attend and connect with people who don’t “necessarily” agree with his views.

“Harold suggested that AOC and Bernie go to a UFC fight,” Fox host Jesse Watters said before Pirro jumped in.

“Here is the difference,” Pirro said. “First of all, you’ve got two totally different audiences, the UFC audience. You’ve got a lot of blue collar, family, working class. You’ve got everyone, you know, it’s family. There’s people who love a fight.”

On Saturday evening, Trump appeared at the UFC 314 event in Miami and was greeted by a cheering crowd as he walked out to meet supporters and some of his Cabinet members who also attended.

Pirro went on to say that the main difference between the reaction to Sanders versus Trump was that the crowd “immediately” exploded, starting to sing and chant “USA, USA” as the president walked out.

“The president doesn’t have to get up, say one word, try to sell a political message. He walks in and, bang, 18,000 people are united in supporting him and the United States of America,” Pirro said. “Now, juxtapose that to what’s going on at Coachella. You’ve got an 83-year-old guy trying to talk to Generation Z, a political speech, when half of them are high, and they’re half dressed.”

“They’re paying $700 to $1,500 to get a ticket, $30 for a sandwich,” Pirro added. “He’s trying to preach to them about how bad it is, talking about climate change, racism, capitalism. He’s politicizing a music event. If they weren’t so stoned, they would have booed him out.”

With Democrats struggling to rally behind a cohesive leader and message, the party hit an all-time low in favorability, according to a March CNN/SSRS poll, dropping to 19% approval among respondents. Despite the lack of leadership, Sanders and Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have gained popularity among their base, with Ocasio-Cortez leading in potential polls to take Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s seat if she chooses to run.
