A “simple” run to a grocery store has led to some backlash against Kai Trump — granddaughter of President Donald Trump.
The 18-year-old Trump took her Secret Service detail and her YouTube followers along as she went to luxury grocery store Erewhon, per NewsNation.
“I’m gonna need to file for bankruptcy,” Trump joked in her the titled “I Brought My Secret Service to Erewhon.”
There have been 404,000 views and 10,000 comments as of Wednesday morning. The video was first published March 8.
Trump called the Los Angeles-based chain “the most expensive grocery store pretty much out there.” The store is infamous for its overpriced products, including a $21 Hailey Bieber smoothie and $19 for one strawberry.
Many have commented on the video, disparaging Trump’s extravagence while the U.S. is at war with Iran, as grocery and gas prices soar.
“I kind of understand how a pre-revolution French peasant felt now,” one person commented.
Another commenter said, “Grandpa killing innocent children, enjoy your $50 smoothie though!”
“I love that my taxes are funding this instead of school lunches,” another added.
In the video, Trump complainsd “everything’s super expensive.” She proceeded to fill her basket up with sushi, a $14 bottle of water and $16 jar of dates.
“Guys, one thing about me is I don’t spend, like, a lot of money,” she said. “Like I’m very… I don’t spend a lot.”
She criticized that her selections from the market’s hot bar were not worth the price.
“It’s good,” she said. “Is this worth $27? No.”
In the end, a single bag of items – which included the Hailey Bieber smoothie – cost Trump $233.
Trump is a daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and his ex-wife, Vanessa Trump. Her YouTube channel has amassed almost 1.5 million subscribers.
