Former Vice President Kamala Harris’ previous mentor and one-time boyfriend William Brown said that he advised her to try and become a U.S. Supreme Court justice.

Harris’ political prospects are up in the air after her loss in the 2024 election and her refusal to run for the governor of California. Brown stated on a July 22 episode of the “State of Gold Podcast” that he advised Harris to tell then-2020 Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden that she wanted to be nominated as Attorney General so she could seek an ambition of being a Supreme Court justice.

“I urged [Harris], that if [Biden] comes to you for [vice president], tell him you want to be the attorney general,” Brown said. “Because from the attorney generalship, you may land where you I suspect are most talented, and that’s the Supreme Court. And you could easily end up being chief justice of the Supreme Court with your real talent.’ I think she stopped speaking to me as a result.”

Brown added that Harris would face a difficult race if she launched a gubernatorial race in California since her talents are better suited for the high court. Harris announced on Wednesday that she will not run for governor or any other public office at this time.

“In recent months, I have given serious thought to asking the people of California for the privilege to serve as their Governor. I love this state, its people, and its promise. It is my home. But after deep reflection, I’ve decided that I will not run for Governor in this election,” Harris wrote in a statement on X.

Shortly after losing the 2024 presidential election to President Donald Trump, Harris told her aides that she wanted to leave her political options on the table, sources told Politico. Some California House Democrats told CNN that they were not enthusiastic about the prospect of Harris running for governor.

Harris said in 2016 that she did “not wish to be considered” as a possible Supreme Court nominee by former President Barack Obama.

Harris didn’t immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
