White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt skewered The Hill associate editor Niall Stanage on Thursday after he accused the Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) agent who killed Renee Good of acting “recklessly.”

Stanage claimed that Good was killed because Jonathan Ross, the ICE agent in question, unjustifiably killed her, without any mention of Good accelerating her vehicle and hitting him. Leavitt told Stanage from the podium that he was a “left-wing hack” and activist who was posing as a journalist.

“Why was Renee Good unfortunately and tragically killed?” Leavitt said in response to Stanage’s question on ICE’s conduct.

“Are you asking me my opinion? Because an ICE agent acted recklessly and killed [a woman],” Stanage said.

“Oh, okay, so you’re a biased reporter with a left-wing opinion,” Leavitt said. “Yeah, because you’re a left-wing hack. You’re not a reporter. You’re posing in this room as a journalist. And it’s so clear by the premise of your question. And you and the people in the media who have such biases but fake like you’re a journalist. You shouldn’t even be sitting in that seat.”

Stanage initially asked Leavitt about how ICE is conducting their operations effectively given that some people have died at the hands of agents. Following the heated confrontation, Leavitt then challenged Stanage on the number of Americans killed by illegal immigrants, including Laken Riley and Jocelyn Nungaray, who were both killed at the hands of illegal immigrants.

“Do you have the numbers of how many American citizens were killed at the hands of illegal aliens who ICE is trying to remove from this country? I bet you don’t. I bet you didn’t even read up on those stories,” Leavitt continued.

“I bet you never even read about Laken Riley or Jocelyn Nungaray or all of the innocent Americans who were killed at the hands of illegal aliens in this country,” Leavitt said. “And the brave men and women of ICE are doing everything in their power  to remove those heinous individuals and make our communities safer. And shame on people like you in the media who have a crooked view and have a biased view and pretend like you’re a real honest journalist.”

President Donald Trump’s administration has ramped up arrests and deportations after border crossings surged under former President Joe Biden’s administration. ICE is currently holding a record-high of over 68,900 individuals and has made over 352,000 arrests, according to ICE data.

Democrats and many in the corporate media have expressed their sympathies toward Good over ICE, with Democratic Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey calling for ICE to “get the fuck out” of his city immediately following Good’s death. Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz accused Trump and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem on Wednesday of occupying the city by sending more ICE agents, and called on Minnesotans to film officers during their operations.

The agent who killed Good suffered from internal bleeding to the torso as a result of Good hitting him with the car. He was the victim of a previous vehicle attack in June when an anti-ICE protester rammed into him and dragged him along the street, Noem said during a Jan. 7 press conference.

The administration has maintained that Ross acted in self-defense and that the media has covered the incident dishonestly. Footage from the officer’s perspective showed Good accelerating her car and hitting the agent after being ordered to get out of the car. Her wife, Rebecca, could be heard shouting “drive baby, drive,” as the officers approached her.
