Blood may be thicker than water, but that hasn’t stopped another relative of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. from endorsing President Joe Biden in the upcoming presidential election.
Former Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.) announced his endorsement on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday.
“There is no other choice than Joe Biden,” Kennedy said.
“That sounded like an endorsement,” host Dana Bash said.
“Of course it is,” Kennedy said.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is running as an independent.
Patrick Kennedy is a retired politician and mental health advocate.
He said is worried about what a second term for former President Donald Trump would do for the country, per USA Today.
“Democracy really is in peril,” Patrick Kennedy said. “The threat to democracy is here at home.”
Some opined that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. could act as a spoiler in the general election by taking away votes from either Biden or Trump.
Several members of the Kennedy family have endorsed Biden over their kin earlier in the election cycle.
“We want to make crystal clear our feeling that the best way forward for America is to reelect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to four more years,” Kerry Kennedy, daughter of Robert F. Kennedy and the younger sister of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., said previously.
