Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) made an announcement he never expect to make when he endorsed President Joe Biden recently.
Yet, roughly two days after he made official endorsed the president, he is joining those suggesting the 46th president might have to step aside after a disastrous debate performance.
On Friday, Kinzinger shared a video from MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough suggesting Democrats should urge Biden to step aside.
In a post on X on Wednesday, Kinzinger — a sharp critic of former President Donald Trump and member of the House committee that investigated the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S Capitol — wrote, “As a proud conservative, I’ve always put America’s Democracy and our Constitution above all else.”
He also shared a video where he noted he has differences with the current president’s policies.
“It’s because of my unwavering support for democracy that today, as a proud conservative, I’m endorsing Joe Biden for re-election,” Kinzinger said. “I know that he will always protect the very thing that makes America the best country in the world: our democracy.”
Unfortunately for Kinzinger, his endorsement came just a day before Biden turned in a raspy, rambling performance where it was hard to hear and follow what he was saying, and now Democrats are reportedly in a panic about the future of his candidacy.
Fox News’ Jacqui Heinrich shared two texts she received from Democrats. One read, “The race is over.”
Meanwhile, another said, “We are f***ed.”
Meanwhile, The New York Times published several op-eds calling on Biden to step aside after the debate.
Yet, shortly after the debate, Biden was seen at a Waffle House.
One reporter asked, “Mr. President, how do you think you performed tonight?”
“I think we did well,” Biden responded.
