The man who pleaded guilty to killing students from the University of Idaho received four life sentences — one for each life he took in 2022.

Ada County District Court Judge Steven Hippler sentenced Bryan Kohberger, 30, to four life sentences without the possibility of parole for the murders plus 10 years for one count of burglary, per a report on NBC News.

The sentences are to be served served consecutively.

Kohberger must also pay a fine of $50,000 and a civil penalty of $5,000 to each victim’s family.

He pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the stabbing deaths of Ethan Chapin, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Madison Mogen.

Kohberger admitted his guilt in order to avoidtrial and and a potential death sentence.

Hippler called Kohberger a “faceless coward.”

“The loss this killer inflicted was not just the death of these people’s children, siblings, grandchildren, as we’ve heard today, it has ripped a hole in their soul, destroying a special part of their very essence,” he said.

The judge also said it was futile to try to understand the murders since it would give Kohberger more power and control.

“There is no reason for these crimes that could approach anything resembling rationality,” Hippler said.

“In my view, the time has now come to end for Mr. Kohberger’s 15 minutes of fame,” the judge added. “It’s time that he be consigned to the ignominy and isolation of perpetual incarceration.”
