Dr. Anthony Fauci was offered an apology for how he was treated by House Republicans during an hearing on the origins of COVID-19.
During a House hearing on Monday, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) apologized to Fauci for Republicans trying to “drag your name through the mud.”
“They’re treating you, Dr. Fauci, like a convicted felon,” he continued before adding, “Actually, you probably wish they were treating you like a convicted felon. They treat them with love and admiration. Some blindly worship them.”

His comment seemed to be a veiled shot at Republicans for their response to former President Donald Trump being found guilty of 34 felony counts in his hush money trial.
Conservatives have criticized the case and alleged it was an example of selective prosecution against Trump.
Even critics of the former president have spoken out against the prosecution.
Additionally, they have took issue with the legal theory of the case which bumped the charges up from misdemeanors to felonies on the basis that business records were falsified in furtherance of another crime. And while the prosecution did not precisely make clear what the other crime was, it argued the falsification was done in furtherance of a campaign finance violation in closing arguments.
Trump called the verdict the result of a “rigged disgraceful trial.”
Despite the ABC News poll finding nearly half the country thinks he should end presidential bid, the Trump campaign claims it raised a whopping $200 million in the days since the verdict was announced.
