Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) was swift in making fun of former President Donald Trump by pointing out the size of the audience at a recent Taylor Swift concert.
“Thank you @taylorswift13 for giving us a million reasons to smile. PS- @realDonaldTrump this is what a sold out crowd actually looks like,” Cheney posted on X, formerly Twitter.
Cheney reposted a video from the singer’s “Eras Tour” in London. In the video, Swift brought boyfriend and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce on stage, per The Hill.
Trump and President Joe Biden have been vying for Swift’s attention.
The New York Times reported Biden was hoping for Swift’s endorsement for November’s election. She did endorse Biden in 2020.
Trump has talked about Swift several times recently — mostly bringing up her beauty.
He said during a closed-door House GOP meeting
he was “surprised” Swift has not supported him, according to Rep. Ben Cline (R-Va.).
In a new book released by Variety co-editor in chief Ramin Setoodeh, Trump called her “unusually beautiful” and said, “I think she’s liberal. She probably doesn’t like Trump.”
His campaign, however, had a different approach when asked about Cheney’s post.
“Who’s Taylor Swift?” campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung asked.
Cheney’s post is a counterpoint to Trump boasting the size of his rallies.
But the size of these rallies have been called into question. MSNBC reported last month that Trump inflated the size of a rally he held in the Bronx.
His campaign said 25,000 people attended. The New York Times reported the campaign had a police permit for 3,500 people for that event.
The Biden-Harris HQ X account also took note by posting side-by-side photos of Trump’s rally in Philadelphia and President Biden’ appearance at the same place.
