Margot Robbie may be one of the most recognizable stars in Hollywood, but she’s making it clear that her son will remain firmly out of the spotlight.
According to Fox News, in a new interview with British Vogue for its January 2026 issue, Robbie spoke candidly about her shifting approach to fame while her baby boy — born just over a year ago — rested nearby and cried briefly during the conversation.
“I’m so sorry, by the way, for how loud my baby is,” Robbie told the outlet, immediately apologizing before drawing a hard line on what she’s willing to share.
“I’m trying to keep that side of things private and protect him,” she said.
Robbie explained that motherhood has solidified boundaries she had long wanted to put in place, especially after years of seeing her words twisted in the press.
“Earlier in my career, I’d speak more freely in interviews. I’ve just been burnt so many times, when people have taken what I’ve said out of context. And I read stuff all the time where people put me in quotation marks saying things I’ve never said,” she recalled.
She said the experience was jarring.
“I remember the first time, 10 years ago, seeing that in a newspaper, and I could not get my head around it. I was like, ‘They just made it up?’ There was no way for me to change or control it. I just had to accept that.”
But now, Robbie added, she isn’t simply accepting the terms of fame anymore.
“When you shift from your 20s to your 30s and beyond, you think, ‘I am going to do things differently. Here are my new boundaries,'” she said.
Robbie and her husband, British film producer Tom Ackerley, welcomed their son late last year, eight years after marrying. The pair have been steadfast in guarding his privacy — they haven’t revealed his name, released photos or discussed any personal details publicly.
Their commitment aligns with something Robbie said long before she became a mother. In 2016, she told The Daily Telegraph she wanted a big family and anticipated a major shift once she had children.
“I grew up in a family of four [kids], so that sounds like a good number. We’ll see what happens … I know that once I have kids, they’ll be my priority,” she said.
Following their son’s birth, a source told People the couple had settled in at their Los Angeles home and were spending most of their time together as a family, with Ackerley’s mother visiting from England.
Robbie herself has described the transition to motherhood with unmistakable joy. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in August, she summed up the experience simply.
“It’s funny, you try to explain to someone who has kids, you don’t need to because they get it. And if they don’t, it’s probably just really boring to hear.
“It’s the best,” she said.
As her career continues at full speed, Robbie appears more certain than ever about the guardrails she’s putting in place — and the little boy who inspired them.
