One mayoral race, two governor races plus Proposition 50 are the key contests to watch on Election Day.
The race to become Mayor of the Big Apple has been in the headlines for months.
Zohran Mamdani, 34, a democratic socialist, is leading in the polls, but faces competition from former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, now an independent, and Curtis Sliwa, the Republican candidates, per The Hill.
Mamdani has campaign to make New York more affordable.
His age and use of social media have made him a favorite among young voters.
All eyes are on Mamdani as he may become the first Muslim mayor of New York City.
There are also two races for governor to watch.
Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D) is slightly ahead of former state Rep. Jack Ciattarelli(R) in New Jersey.
Over in Virginia, former Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D) has the lead over the state Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears.
The DDHQ polling average shows Sherrill leading Ciattarelli by about four points.
Spanberger is expected to win the race in Virginia, mostly due to a dislike for Trump.
In California, all eyes are on the vote for Proposition 50, which is designed to redraw the states’s congressional maps to Democrats’ advantage.
Polls suggest Proposition 50 will pass, per Fox News.
Those comes on the heels of the redistricting in Texas — at President Donald Trump’s urging.
The GOP across the country are seeking to add to its House majority to keep control of the chamber in the 2026 midterms, “when the party in power traditionally faces political headwinds and loses seats,” Fox News reported.
