Meghan McCain blasted freshly-minted White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany during an appearance on “The View” this week, saying that she was hired because her talent for “spinning propaganda.”
McCain said that there has been mixed messaging coming from the White House and medical experts before adding, “In regards to Kayleigh McEnany, she was hired for this job because she’s very good at spinning propaganda and she was good at spinning propaganda before she got this job.”
The co-host continued, “I guess that you could make the argument that that’s the role of any press secretary but I think that it’s probably a little more egregious with this particular president.”
She went on to bemoan the state of the nation, noting that unemployment has soared and the gross domestic product plunged. McCain also said there the suicide hotline has seen a 1,000% increase.
She added, “We are not going to have something to come back from unless the White House gets on top of this.”
She also criticized McEnany for saying that it’s “nonsensical” that everybody needs to get tested. McCain argued, “If the tests aren’t important, why is all the White House and allegedly most of the press corps getting these testings before they’re in front of the president.”

McEnany was installed after former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham returned to her previous role in the East Wing.
McEnany has a history fiercely defending the president during TV appearances. In late-February, prior to being named press secretary, she claimed that the coronavirus would not come to the United States because President Donald Trump would protect American citizens.
She joined the White House a few weeks before Trump began to scale back the daily coronavirus briefings.
McEnany has pledged that she will stick to the facts, telling the press at her first White House briefing that “I will never lie to you.”
