Here we go again, as if it ever stopped, the end of day prophesies about what will happen if people vote for Republicans.
During a Monday segment of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” host Joe Scarborough claimed, “This year you’re not just voting for a Republican. It’s a vote for a candidate who doesn’t believe in the most basic principles of American democracy.”
“Everybody knows about the killing of generals,” he bizarrely added.
It was unclear when former President Donald Trump murdered a general or said he kill one. However, the claim seems to seem from a twisted interpretation of a post he made on Truth Social last year.
The segment got darker as guest Donny Deutsch chimed in, “For anybody… whether it’s no longer a free election, whether it’s a weaponized Justice Department, whether it’s an un-independent Federal Communications Commission, on and on we can go, when anybody says to me, ‘Well, that’s not going to happen because we’ve got checks and balances, and the institutions…’ You’re already seeing there will be no checks and balances.”
“There’s absolutely no mystery here. So anybody who votes Republican and doesn’t understand you’re voting for the end of democracy, just pay attention to the Sunday shows this past weekend,” he added.

Do they ever get tired of these doomsday predictions and acting like the climate change crazies predicting the planet will end in the next five years?
And do their viewers ever get tired of it or are they at this point just addicted to the fear-porn and so detached from reality they need to keep hearing scary predictions.
Remember in 2022, MSNBC had historian Michael Beschloss on air-day days before the midterm election to turn the fear mongering up to eleven by claiming Republicans would arrest and kill your kids if they won — not a joke that really happened.
“Fifty years from now, if historians are allowed to write in this country and if there are still free publishing houses and a free press — which I’m not certain of, but if that is true — a historian will say, what was at stake tonight and this week was the fact whether we will be a democracy in the future, whether our children will be arrested and conceivably killed,” claimed.
Well, it’s been almost two years since the election. Republicans have been in control of the House since Jan. 2023, and statehouses around the country, and so far — unless the press is sleeping on the job — there do not appear to be reports of House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) or Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) driving around, arresting children, and chopping their heads off.
The shameless with which these people just pull stuff out of nowhere is to attack Republicans is incredible. There is plenty to criticize the Republican Party and former President Donald Trump for. You really don’t need to claim they’re going to kill your kids or end democracy without any evidence.
And when these commentators do lose touch reality and go to crazy-land, it makes that much harder to hear any kind of legitimate criticism from them.
