Elon Musk was reported to be donating $45 million a month to a pro-Trump super PAC until the election.
But Musk denied that report on Tuesday, saying, “I am not donating $45 million a month to Trump,”Fox Business reported.
“What’s been reported in the media is simply not true,” Musk said.
The Wall Street Journal reported the billionaire was going to donate $45 million a month to America PAC.
This super PAC will primarily focus on voter outreach and registration efforts, the IJR reported.
Former President Donald Trump referenced the report at a campaign rally on Saturday, per Fox Business.
“He didn’t even tell me about it,” Trump said.
Musk said he plans to make donations to America PAC but not as much as reported.
“I am making some donations to America PAC, but at a much lower level and the key values of the PAC are supporting a meritocracy & individual freedom,” he posted on X, formerly Twitter. “Republicans are mostly, but not entirely, on the side of merit & freedom.”
Musk helped create America PAC and said while he supports Trump the super PAC “is not supposed to be a sort of hyperpartisan.”
“It’s actually the core principles this America PAC are, the intent is to promote the principles that made America great in the first place,” he said. “I wouldn’t say that I’m, for example, MAGA, or Make America Great Again. I think America is great. I’m more M-A-G, Make America Greater.”
Musk said in March that was not going to donate to the Trump or President Joe Biden campaigns
Musk announced his supportof Trump after the assassination attempt against Trump at a campaign rally July 13.
“I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery,” Musk posted on X.
Musk said he likes Trump because he viewed the Republican Party as being more in line with his beliefs on issues, meritocracy and freedom.
“One of those values being meritocracy, as much meritocracy as possible, so you get ahead as a function of your skill, and nothing else,” Musk said.
He added Trump displayed “great courage” after the assassination attempt.
“I think we need a change in administration,” Musk said.
Musk also donated $100,000 to a Trump-authoized GoFundMe page.
The page was created to help the victims of the July 13 shooting and their families. One man in attendance was killed protecting his wife and daughter. Two others were injured.
In the past, Musk has voted for Democratic candidates, including President Joe Biden, the IJR reported.
However, Musk has become disillusioned with Democrat policies of late. This includes Biden’s support for labor unions and his policies regarding immigration and the border.
