The tweet was short, but packed a punch.
The tweet in question comes from billionaire Elon Musk to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
“Girl, you’re not the governor of Canada anymore, so doesn’t matter what you say,” Musk posted on X, the social media platform he owns.
Musk was responding to a post from Trudeau who publicly rejected Canada become the 51st state.
“There isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that Canada would become part of the United States,” Trudeau wrote on X.
“Workers and communities in both our countries benefit from being each other’s biggest trading and security partner,” he added.
Trudeau announced his resignation as prime minister Monday, following declining popularity.
President-elect Donald Trump and Trudeau met late last year and suggested Canada could become the 51st state if it could not handle the tariffs Trump plans to impose, IJR previously reported.
