House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is sharing that she “generally” votes for a woman, adding, “I just do.”

Speaking to a group at Northwestern University on Monday, Pelosi talked about how she is fighting to preserve the Affordable Care Act before saying, “That is no reflection on who I would support for President of the United States.”

“I just say, just generally, I usually always cast my vote for a woman,” she added. “I just do.”

The speaker, who is known for keeping her plans quiet, has not made any indication of who she will support in the presidential race. Asked if she is comfortable with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) as the Democratic nominee, Pelosi previously said that she was and noted that she is not afraid of losing her majority in the House if Sanders is at the top of the ticket.

During a press conference, Pelosi addressed the rumors that she might be uncomfortable with Sanders at the top of the ticket, saying, “Contrary to what you may be hearing or writing, we are all unified. Whoever the nominee is of our party, we will wholeheartedly support.”

After Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) exited the Democratic primary following a subpar Super Tuesday showing, Pelosi said during a press conference on March 5 that she believes there is “a certain element of misogyny.”

She added, “Every time I get introduced as the most powerful woman I almost cry because I wish that were not true. I so wish we had a woman president of the United States and we came very close to doing that.”

At the beginning of the presidential race, there were four top female Senators who were viewed as having a legitimate shot at the presidency — Sens. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), Warren and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.). However, all of those lawmakers have dropped out of the race and returned to their seats in the Senate.
