Nassau County officials unveiled a marketing campaign Friday aimed at attracting New York City residents and businesses concerned about Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani’s incoming socialist policies.

According to the New York Post, County Executive Bruce Blakeman highlighted the county’s schools, safe streets, beaches, museums, and rising property values, while criticizing Mamdani’s agenda as “very, very troubling.”

“Basically, every community has a large group of people who are really concerned. I had someone call me up yesterday and ask me if I could recommend a real estate broker. They asked about the schools, ‘which are the best schools?’” Blakeman said at a press conference inside the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building.

“They’ve asked me about various communities — a lot of people from Brooklyn, a lot of people from Queens, a lot of people from the Bronx, and most importantly, a lot of people from Manhattan.”

Blakeman, a former Hempstead town councilman considering a run for governor, said the campaign will target not just New York City and the surrounding tri-state area, but eventually the entire United States.

Should Nassau County attract NYC residents concerned about new policies under Mayor-elect Mamdani?

“We will take this not only to New York City and the metropolitan area and the tri-state area, but we’re going to take this campaign across the United States,” he said.

Nassau County Legislator Mazi Pilip emphasized the county’s openness to all residents.

“We are welcoming anyone — Jewish, non-Jewish,” Pilip said. “The best county — the best place to live. We are welcoming everyone… we care about residents. We work with our law enforcement. We have the best law enforcement in the country.”

The effort comes amid concerns that Mamdani’s rise could prompt an exodus from New York City, particularly among Jewish residents uneasy with the 34-year-old Queens lawmaker’s past statements and positions on Israel.
