Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) with a “silver-plated beeper” to thank the Pennsylvania lawmaker for his support of the war-torn country.
The gift was given Wednesday during Fetterman’s visit to Israel, per The Hill.
The “silver-plated beeper” was created after a mission when thousands of devices on Hezbollah fighters were detonated in 2024.
“This is a silver-plated beeper. The real beeper is like one-tenth the weight,” Netanyahu said as he gave it to the senator. “It’s nothing, but it changes history.”
Fetterman is a well-known supporter of Israel as a war raged on between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
“When that story broke, I was like, ‘Oh I love it. I love it,’ and now it’s like, thank you for this,” Fetterman told Netanyahu.
“Thank you,” Fetterman said as he shook the prime minister’s hand.
Netanyahu and his wife Sara met with Fetterman and his wife Gisele in the prime minister’s office in Jerusalem. This was Fetterman’s second visit to Israel since becoming a senator.
Netanyahu thanked Fetterman and his wife for “their consistent support of Israel since the outbreak of the war,” Netanyahu’s office said.
The prime minister gave a similar gift, except in gold, to Trump in February.
