New poll results may signal a sharp decline in President Donald Trump’s approval rating.

According to the ABC News/Ipsos poll, only 39% of registered voters approve of Trump’s coronavirus response efforts, as of May. The poll also highlights a distinctive divide between political parties with Trump’s decline being heavily impacted by independent voters.

ABC / Ipsos poll:

Only 39% of Americans approve of Trump's handling of the coronavirus crisis. 60% disapprove. It is his lowest rating in the poll since the pandemic began.

Only 35% of independent voters approve of Trump’s pandemic response, which is nearly a 10% decrease in independent approval.

The poll also notes the disparity of the coronavirus where African Americans and Latino communities are concerned. Approximately 30% of all African American adults and 26% of Latino Americans know someone who has fallen ill as a result of the coronavirus.

The ABC News/Ipsos poll comes as multiple news networks has also reported similar findings.

A new Fox News poll suggests Americans trust presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden on the coronavirus response, China, and healthcare while only trusting Trump on the economy.

For the presidential race and general election poll, Fox reports that results suggest Biden has an 8% lead over the president.

Despite the latest poll results from multiple mainstream news outlets, Trump insists he has favorable ratings among Republican voters. In fact, shortly after the Fox News poll was released, Trump tweeted, “96% Approval Rating in the Republican Party. Thank you!”
