Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter is mourning the loss of his brother Aaron Carter.

On Sunday, Nick Carter posted a tribute to Aaron Carter on his Instagram and wrote about the hope he had for him.

“My heart is broken. Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship, my love for him has never ever faded. I have always held on to the hope that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed. Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss, but the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here,” he wrote in the caption of various photos of him and Aaron Carter when they were younger.

He concluded his post writing, “I will miss my brother more than anyone will ever know. I love you Chizz. Now you can finally have the peace you could never find here on earth….I love you baby brother.”

Nick Carter became estranged from Aaron Carter in 2019 after he and their sister Angel Carter filed a restraining order against him.

Nick Carter took to Twitter to address the situation and claimed that Aaron Carter confessed to harboring thoughts and intentions of hurting Nick Carter’s then pregnant wife and their unborn child.

“After careful consideration, my sister Angel and I regret that we were required to seek a restraining order against our brother Aaron today,” he wrote at the time.

Continuing, he wrote, “In light of Aaron’s increasingly alarming behavior and his recent confession that he harbors thoughts and intentions of killing my pregnant wife and unborn child, we were left with no choice but to take every measure possible to protect ourselves and our family.”

“We love our brother and truly hope he gets the proper treatment he needs before any harm comes to himself or anyone else,” he concluded.

Aaron Carter died on Saturday at the age of 34.

TMZ reported that multiple sources confirmed that his body was found in his bathtub at his home in California.

Law enforcement told the entertainment news site that they received a call at 11 AM on Saturday and were informed that a male had drowned.

Aaron Carter was a singer who rose to fame in the 1990s. He released his first album at the age of nine.
