Time was of the essence for TIME Magazine owner Marc Benioff to congratulate and laud President-elect Donald Trump as Person of the Year for 2024.
“In some years this is a hard, hard choice,” editor-in-chief Sam Jacobs said Thursday, per Mediaite. “This year, not a hard choice… but this was an obvious decision for those of us at ‘Time.’”
Then, Benioff took to X, formerly Twitter, to congratulate Trump on the honor and added his willingness to work with Trump.
“Congratulations to President @realDonaldTrump on being named TIME Person of the Year 2024. This marks a time of great promise for our nation. We look forward to working together to advance American success and prosperity for everyone. May G-d bless the United States of America,” Benioff wrote.
In his interview with TIME, Trump spoke about lowering grocery prices.
“I’d like to bring them down,” Trump said. “It’s hard to bring things down once they’re up. You know, it’s very hard.”
Benioff is not the only member of the media to become friendly toward Trump.
Patrick Soon-Shiong, who owns the Los Angeles Times rejected an editorial that criticized Trump’s choices for his cabinet.
Soon-Shiong also did not approve the publication endorsing Trump’s opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris. Jeff Bezos, Amazon founder and owner of The Washington Post, also ruled his publication would not endorse a candidate.
