Supreme Court Strikes Down Affirmative Action Admissions

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is attacking the Supreme Court and undermining faith in its rulings.

CNN’s Anderson Cooper asked the California Democrat on Monday night, “Do you have confidence in the Supreme Court? I mean, they’re yet to rule on this immunity thing, but all this thing about Alito and the flags and Clarance Thomas and his wife?”

“No, I think they’ve gone rogue. It’s most unfortunate,” Pelosi responded.

She added, “But it’s unfortunate further to see the other justices. What happened to the chief justice? Did he go weak or did he go rogue?”

Pelosi’s criticism of the Supreme Court comes as it has yet to hand down decisions in several high profile cases, including whether former President Donald Trump has some immunity for official actions he took while in office.

Another case involves whether the Justice Department appropriately applied an obstruction law against Jan. 6 rioters, and whether the Biden Administration violated the Constitution in pressuring social media companies to take down what it deemed false or misleading content.

The court, with its 6-3 conservative majority, has been under increasing attacks from the Left in recent years after a series of major rulings.

In 2022, the court overturned the landmark Roe v. Wade decision, leaving decisions on abortion restricts up to the states. That same year it also ruled Americans have a right to carry firearms in public, and struct down a strict New York that placed limitations on carrying guns outside of the home.

Last year, it struck down President Joe Biden’s sweeping student loan forgiveness plan.

Additionally, activists have sought to undermine conservative justices, seeking to find any issue to present as an ethical violation. Earlier this year, reports surfaced an upside-down American flag was flown outside the home of Justice Samuel Alito, sparking calls for his recusal as activists focused on the use of the imagery in the Stop The Steal effort while ignoring its traditional meaning of distress.

It was also reported an “An Appeal to Heaven” flag flew outside his vacation home. Again, activists sought to tie the flag to Jan. 6, despite its historical meaning, and the fact the flag flew outside San Francisco city hall for decades and no one lobbed accusations it was a sign of support of Jan. 6 or ultra-conservative ideology.

For his part, Alito said his wife flew the flags and denied they were in any way tied to the 2020 election, but noted she had a First Amendment right to fly them.
