A pro-Palestine protester interrupted an interview between “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” host and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi during a live broadcast Tuesday night.

An audience member woman shouted “Free Palestine!” in the Auditorium Theatre where Colebert is doing a week of live shows in Chicago during the Democratic National Convention, per The Hollywood Reporter, who had a reporter present at the show.

The female audience member also questioned the U.S.’s support for Israel.

The show went to a commercial, but not before Colebert acknowledged the protester and vowed to as Pelosi when the show resumed.

He did.

Colebert asked Pelosi about the power the United States has abroad.

Pelosi said she hopes for a cease fire between Israel and Hamas. She also called for the need for a two-state solution.

“War has no place in a civilized society,” she said. This incited  another protester to ask why the U.S. government supplies arms to Israel.

The interview unraveled thereafter with Colbert asking for people to listen to her answer.

However, when the shouting continued, Colebert said, “Please don’t interrupt my guests.”

The interview ended soon after.

Onlookers said the situation was handled peacefully.

More protesters were chanting “Nancy, Nancy, you can’t hide” outside the theater.

Members of the Chicago police force asked the protesters to leave and said they would be arrested if they didn’t disperse since they were on private property.

The Auditorium Theatre is about three miles from the United Center — the venue for the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
