Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is urging President Joe Biden to make a decision about whether he will keep running for re-election.

Pelosi appeared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Wednesday and was asked by co-host Jonathan Lemire, “Does he have your support to be the head of the Democrats?”

“It’s up to the president to decide if he is going to run. We’re all encouraging him to make that decision because time is running short,” the former speaker responded.

She added, “I think overwhelming support of the caucus — it’s not for me to say, I’m not the head of the caucus anymore — but he’s beloved, he is respected, and people want him to make that decision.

Lemire noted, ” He has said he has made the decision. He has said firmly this week he is going to run.”

“Do you want him to run?” he asked.

Pelosi responded, “I want him to do whatever he decides to do. And that’s the way it is. Whatever he decides, we go with.”

Despite questions surrounding Biden’s ability to win in the general election after a poor debate performance last month, earlier this week, he said in a letter to Democrats that he is “firmly committed” to staying in the race.

“The question of how to move forward has been well-aired for over a week now. And it’s time for it to end. We have one job. And that is to beat Donald Trump,” he said. “Any weakening of resolve or lack of clarity about the task ahead only helps Trump and hurts us. It is time to come together, move forward as a unified party, and defeat Donald Trump.”
