President Joe Biden is warning Americans about so-called “MAGA Republicans” whom he claims “represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.”
During a press briefing on Wednesday, Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre if the president might see voters as a threat.
Doocy highlighted an earlier statement from her that there is an “alarming” number of Republicans who will not accept election results.
“Does that mean President Biden believes it is a ‘threat to democracy’ if somebody votes Republican?” he asked.
Jean-Pierre responded, “No. That’s a ridiculous question. No.”
“Why is that a ridiculous question?” Doocy asked.
The press secretary responded, “The American people should have the right to vote for whomever they want. Voting is a sacred right. It is something that the president wants to protect at every turn.”

She went on to clarify, “We are talking about Mega MAGA Republican officials.”
“[Mega MAGA Republicans] say they are pro-police, but then they are also pro-insurrectionists. You cannot be pro-police and be pro-insurrectionist. Who also say they want to defund the FBI. That’s a problem,” she continued.
Finally, Jean-Pierre said, “But the American people have their right to make a decision on who they want to represent them. And they should be allowed to do so.”
During a speech in September, Biden said, “Too much of what’s happening in our country today is not normal. Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.”
He claimed so-called “MAGA Republicans” do not “respect the Constitution. They do not believe in the rule of the law. They do not recognize the will of the people. They refuse to accept the results of a free election.”
And he is scheduled to deliver another speech on Democracy on Wednesday evening.
White House Deputy Chief of Staff and Assistant to the President Jen O’Malley Dillon told Axios, “You can expect to hear from him this evening … there is a lot at stake including democracy and that everyone has a role in that.”
