Republican Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana told Fox News host Harris Faulkner Thursday that former CIA Director John Brennan and former FBI Director James Comey were “not ethical people” while discussing a criminal probe into their involvement in launching the Russia collusion probe.
CIA Director John Ratcliffe referred Brennan and Comey to the FBI, which launched a criminal investigation for making false statements to Congress, Fox News reported. Kennedy said Brennan and Comey were “especially bad” and contributed to the country’s tense political climate during the appearance on “The Faulkner Focus.”
“We have a number of people in America that are crazy. I mean, they take politics so seriously that if you disagree with them, you are not just wrong, you are in error, you are a bad person, and presidents are very visible. I know they have good protection but they have to be protected every moment,” Kennedy told Faulkner. “I really regret we live in a climate like we live in, but I can tell you two people who contributed to that climate, you have already mentioned their names, James Comey and John Brennan.”

Brennan denied wrongdoing on Wednesday during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Deadline: White House,” telling host Nicolle Wallace the CIA “stayed true” and didn’t try to influence the 2016 election during the Obama administration when Wallace questioned him about the probe.
“I know Mr. Comey and I know Mr. Brennan,” Kennedy told Faulkner. “Neither one of them, in my opinion, should attempt more than six of the ten commandments. They are not very nice people, they are not ethical people. I know people who have worked with them closely and if you talk to people who have worked with them closely, those people will tell you that they are about as popular as male pattern baldness.”
“What’s scary about both of them is that they think that they are competent,” Kennedy continued. “They’re not. I would hire the guy who salts the fries at McDonald’s before I would hire them. They think they’re competent, they think they are smarter and more virtuous than the rest of us and they acted on their political beliefs. Brennan, for example, Mr. Brennan, was one of the ones who told the American people that the Hunter Biden laptop wasn’t real, it was Russian disinformation. They’re just not honest people.”
Brennan was one of dozens of former intelligence officials who signed an October 2020 letter published by Politico that claimed a bombshell New York Post report about emails from a laptop supposedly abandoned by Hunter Biden “has all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.”
“They are like so many in Washington, Harris, they’re so arrogant,” Kennedy said. “Lyndon Johnson used to have an expression, he’d say that guy is so arrogant he could strut sitting down. That’s the way Mr. Comey and Mr. Brennan are. Those two have done more to destroy the American people’s confidence in the FBI and national intelligence than any two people I can think of.”
