Comedian Howie Mandel urged actress Cheryl Hines on “Howie Mandel Does Stuff” Nov. 11 not to return as a guest on “The View” after the show’s co-hosts forced her to answer for her husband, Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Hines appeared on “The View” in October, defending her husband as the co-hosts interrogated her on Kennedy’s stances on vaccination, Tylenol and President Donald Trump. When Hines told Mandel on his podcast that she would be willing to reappear on “The View,” the comedian advised her against it, saying she did not deserve their harsh treatment.

“I’d go back on … I have to be in a certain mood, but I would do it,” Hines said.

“You shouldn’t. I’m telling you, you shouldn’t. Nobody deserves to be attacked. You could deserve to be in a discussion,” Mandel replied. “That’s okay, you know. But I just felt that that was an attack.”

Hines said the majority of the six co-hosts listened to her on the show, but called out Sunny Hostin as the one who did not.

“I felt like she really just wanted to make her points. So it didn’t feel that much like an interview necessarily with her,” she said. “But I feel like with the other women it felt a little different.”

Should Cheryl Hines return to 'The View' after her recent experience on the show?

Hostin told Hines that Kennedy’s endorsement of Trump during the 2024 election was “striking” because the two had previously spoken negatively about one another. While citing Hines’ new book, Hostin told her that she did not prevent Kennedy from backing Trump after friends expressed concerns and told Hines that she needed to block his endorsement.

“Obviously, that didn’t happen,” Hostin said. “How did you feel about his decision to suspend his campaign and support Trump and did you share any concerns that you may have had about that?”

“I always share all of my concerns with my husband. I had not been a political person … So with Bobby, that was a very difficult decision to make with President Trump … President Trump and Bobby sat down and talked and yes, they did have a lot of common goals,” Hines said, mentioning drug costs as an example. “So it was very important for President Trump and for Bobby to work together and say, no, Americans are not going to pay more than other countries for our drugs.”

Hostin also brought up vaccines, with Hines assuring the co-host that both Kennedy and Trump want Americans to have access to vaccines. Moreover, the co-host lectured Hines about how most HHS secretaries have supposedly had a background in science.

“The View” did not bring any conservative, pro-Trump guests in the show in 2025 as of July 30, the Media Research Center found.

When “The Benny Show” host Benny Johnson asked Republican Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy on Monday if he would soon be appearing on “The View,” the senator made it clear that he would not be.

“I will not be going on ‘The View,’” Kennedy said. “In fact, my version of hell is being required to watch reruns of ‘The View’ for the rest of eternity …  I’d rather be poked in the eye with a sharp stick.”
