Priscilla Presley, ex-wife of musical legend Elvis Presley, opened up about the loss of her daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, mother, and grandson.
In an interview with Piers Morgan on his TalkTV show “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” Priscilla Presley, 78, got candid about dealing with grief over the loss of Lisa Marie Presley in January and her grandson Benjamin Keough who took his own life in 2020. He was 27.
“It’s difficult to wake up in the morning and not have a call from my daughter or wonder how my grandson is doing. It’s like a large part of your life is taken away,” she shared.
She also opened up about Lisa Marie Presley’s death just 48 hours after the mother-daughter duo attended the Golden Globes together in support of actor Austin Butler, who won Best Actor for his portrayal of Elvis in the film “Elvis” on Jan. 10.
“She didn’t look well that night, and I was concerned. She asked Jerry Schilling, one of my best friends, if he could hold her,” Priscilla Presley recalled.
She continued, “Her heels were high, and she’s worn them before, and I thought, ‘Is she OK?’ She didn’t really look that OK, she looked very frail.”
Furthermore, Priscilla Presley called the loss of her daughter “unbearable.”
Lisa Marie Presley died after going into cardiac arrest. She was 54 years old.
According to the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office, Lisa Marie Presley’s cause of death was the after-affect “of small bowel obstruction” which developed after bariatric surgery “years ago,” per NBC News.
Priscilla Presley confirmed the news of her passing in a statement to People.
“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss,” she shared.
Priscilla Presley’s mother Anna Lillian Iversen died at 95 in 2021.
“I lost my mother, I lost my grandson, and [then] I lost my daughter,” she said of the consecutive losses.
Additionally, Priscilla Presley spoke about her own mortality and revealed she wants to be buried next to Elvis Presley when she dies.
“That’s what I want and wanted,” she said.
When asked by Piers Morgan if “that will happen” Priscilla Presley replied, “Yes.”
