People were not happy with a post Eric Trump made on X, formerly Twitter, about the sacrifices the Trump family has made.
Eric Trump retweeted a post from an account called Freedom, which showed a picture of Trumps with the message, “The family that gave up everything to save America. Thank you!”
The son of former President Donald Trump added, “And we will do it again!”
Those in the photo were Donald Trump, Melania Trump, Eric Trump, wife Lara Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and fiancée Kimberly Guilfoyle.
Many found it ironic for Eric Trump to post such a message on Memorial Day weekend, especially since the focus of the weekend should be on fallen service members, according to the HuffPost.
“I wasn’t going to tweet anything political this weekend, but i have to make an exception for this,” former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), a former Air Force second lieutenant, said.
“Your family has sacrificed nothing, your name will become synonymous with ‘Benedict Arnold’ and how dare you tweet this, THIS weekend,” he added. “You don’t know the first thing about service you child.”
Bill Kristol, a conservative commentator, said it “particularly disgusting to post this on Memorial Day weekend.”
