President Donald Trump is picking up a new endorsement less than 30 days before the election.

Puerto Rico Gov. Wanda Vázquez Garced (R) announced her endorsement of Trump during an interview on Telemundo. She said, “I ask all Puerto Ricans who are listening to go vote.”

“They have to go to vote, exercise their right to vote, and evaluate who has represented being a person who thinks about Puerto Ricans and their needs at the most difficult moment. It is Donald Trump,” Garced added.

When asked about Trump throwing paper towels during his tour of the island after Hurricane Maria in 2017, Garced said, “We should put that aside. Nobody is perfect.”

“If we are going to remember the image by throwing paper towels, we are going to remember the image of when all the posts were previously on the ground, and now they are standing,” she added.

Her endorsement comes weeks after Trump announced an extra $13 billion in assistance to the island to help rebuild its infrastructure.

Garced was reportedly slated to attend a campaign event with Trump in Florida. However, that event was canceled after the president tested positive for COVID-19.

Tatiana Matta, a Latino adviser for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, responded to the news, “This is clearly a desperate, political stunt to win over Puerto Rican supporters.”

“For the thousands of families who had to leave the island, for all those we’ve lost, for those who still struggle everyday to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table, it is three years too little and too late,” the statement added.
