Vivek Ramaswamy, 2024 Republican presidential hopeful, revived his interest in crackpot theories during the fourth primary debate.
“Why am I the only person on the stage at least who can say that Jan. 6 now does look like it was an inside job? That the government lied to us for 20 years about Saudi Arabia’s involvement in 9/11? That the Great Replacement Theory is not some grand right-wing conspiracy theory, but a basic statement of the Democratic party’s platform?” Ramaswamy asked.
He went on, “That the 2020 election was indeed stolen by Big Tech? That the 2016 election, the one that Trump won for sure, was also one that was stolen from him by the national security establishment.”

There is also no evidence the 2020 election was stolen. Several recounts, legal challenges, and audits have failed to provide evidence of such claims. Meanwhile, several of former President Donald Trump’s lawyers have pleaded guilty in Georgia for their involvement in plots to overturn the election.
And his claim the 2016 election was stolen from Trump — even though he won — is just bizarre. It was a pathetic attempt, again, to make him look like he’s interesting and saying something really, super bold.
But the election wasn’t stolen from Trump in any way. He appears to mean the whole “Russiagate” nonsense was a distraction that took up a massive amount of oxygen and was a distraction based on a false premise.
Yet, the argument that the election was stolen because of outside events that distracted the president is not unique to Trump, many presidents have had their elections stolen in history by that argument. It’s just a ridiculous statement.
The moderators eventually cut him off.
However, his gross obsession with flirting with conspiracy theories about seemingly every part of life is well known. He has previously chosen to use the worst terrorist attack in our nation’s history to falsely cast himself as some bold truth-teller.
And he shouldn’t have been given the room to keep going once he got to 9/11.
