In the days before violence shattered their quiet California home, Rob and Michele Reiner were still thinking about others.
According to Page Six, the longtime couple, known for their generosity and close relationships, had mailed out holiday cards and bonuses to friends and colleagues shortly before they were brutally killed.
On Monday, Michele’s longtime trainer and close friend, Neda Soderqvist, shared a photo on social media of a handwritten holiday card she received from the Reiners after their deaths.
“Today in the mail was a card from Michele and Rob Reiner!” Soderqvist wrote in the caption.
She said the unexpected delivery left her stunned — and deeply moved.
“Even from heaven, they are still making sure that everyone receives their bonuses, and what really truly touches my soul and heart are the cards that Michele wrote me,” Soderqvist continued.
She recalled a recurring ritual Michele insisted on whenever she gave a bonus.
“One of the funny things about her was each time she sent me a bonus she would make me promise her that I would utilize it for myself and not give it away,” she wrote.
Soderqvist said she plans to honor that request, at least in part.
“I will keep $100,” she explained, adding that she will donate the rest in Michele’s honor to “one of the most inspiring foundations that I know you love.”
Her message ended with a deeply personal tribute.
“Thank you for being my best friend ride or die,” she wrote. “Someone who taught me self-worth self-love and I will keep your legacy going forever and I’ll give you the oath that I’ll be here for your children.”
The card itself reflected the warmth and humor that friends say defined Michele.
“Dear Neda — What can I say after all these years! We love each other, are mad at each other, and then just move on!” Michele wrote.
“And it always works out! I hope you have a great holiday with your family who adore you — love Michele and Rob.”
Michele, 70, and Rob, 78, were found fatally stabbed inside their Brentwood, California, home on Dec. 14. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office said both died from “multiple sharp force injuries.”
Their youngest son, Nick Reiner, 32, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He has reportedly been diagnosed with schizophrenia, and court proceedings are ongoing. According to TMZ, he may enter a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity.
In the aftermath, the Reiners’ surviving children, Jake and Romy, have slowly begun reemerging publicly. Reports indicate they have been staying at a Malibu beach house as they grieve the sudden loss of their parents.
For those who knew Rob and Michele best, the final holiday cards have become painful reminders of who they were — generous, thoughtful, and quietly devoted to the people in their lives until the very end.
