Sacramento officials are investigating after ABC10’s television station was struck by gunfire Friday, according to multiple reports.

CBS News reported that police responded just after 1:30 p.m. to the 400 block of Broadway following reports of shots fired. Officers later said the building had been hit, according to the outlet.

“While details are still limited, importantly all of our employees are safe and unharmed,” said Molly McMahon, a spokesperson for Tegna, to CBS News. Tegna owns the ABC affiliate station. “We are fully cooperating with law enforcement and have taken additional measures to ensure the continued safety of our employees.”

Early reports indicate the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle after firing into the building, with officials classifying the incident as a drive-by shooting. No injuries or suspect information have been reported as of Friday evening.

The shooting comes amid protests against Disney and ABC following the network’s decision Wednesday to indefinitely suspend late-night host Jimmy Kimmel. The move came after Kimmel’s Monday night monologue, where he said the “MAGA gang” had hit “new lows,” claiming Republicans were trying to portray Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin as “anything other than one of them.”

Despite prior official reports stating that 22-year-old suspect Tyler Robinson “was deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology,” Kimmel doubled down on Tuesday. The late-night host pushed back against Vice President JD Vance’s criticism of far-left violence in his monologue, saying, “many in MAGA-land are working very hard to capitalize on the murder of Charlie Kirk.”

Since Kimmel’s suspension, protests have broken out in support of the late-night host in California and New York. Democrats have also shown their support for Kimmel, including California Rep. Eric Swalwell and former President Barack Obama, who has accused Republicans and Trump’s administration of taking “cancel culture” to a “new and dangerous level.”

ABC10 and the Sacramento Police Department did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
