President Joe Biden could soon officially end the speculation about whether he will run for reelection in 2024.
The Associated Press reported Thursday that people briefed on the matter “who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations, said they were not aware that a final decision on timing had been made, but that Biden had been eyeing Tuesday, April 25, four years to the day since the Democrat entered the 2020 race.”
The New York Times also reported Biden’s team was considering April 25 for the announcement date.
It noted, “One of Mr. Biden’s favorite poems, which he has often quoted, is about making ‘history and hope rhyme.’”
Biden, 80, is already the oldest president in U.S. history.
He would be 86 at the end of a potential second term.
Still, he has repeatedly stated he plans to run again.
The president was asked about his plans during the White House Easter Egg Roll.
He told NBC News’ Al Roker, “I plan on running, Al. We’re just not prepared to announce it yet.”

Meanwhile, First Lady Jill Biden also previously indicated her husband is planning to run again.
During an interview with The Associated Press during a February interview with the AP, she revealed her husband is “pretty much” ready to announce his reelection campaign.
She also shared there are few details left to decide, except for the timing of the announcement.
“How many times does he have to say it for you to believe it?” the first lady asked.
Biden acknowledged she is a key adviser for the president because, “I’m his wife.”
She said, “Of course he’ll listen to me, because we’re a married couple.”
However, she stressed, “He makes up his own mind, believe me.”
