Republican politicians and media personalities have had a negative reaction to news that the Federal Bureau of Investigation played a part in decreasing the spread of information about Hunter Biden‘s laptop.
As IJR previously reported, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg told podcaster Joe Rogan in an interview for “The Joe Rogan Experience” that aired Thursday that the FBI came to company representatives saying to watch out for potential Russian “disinformation.”
The FBI’s warning caused the social media giant to downgrade the distribution of The New York Post story about the contents of now-first son Hunter Biden during President Joe Biden’s run for the presidency.
Filmmaker Dinesh DSoza shared his outrage on Twitter saying, “So it was the FBI—the FBI!—that instructed Facebook to restrict and block the Hunter Biden story. The FBI is now like the KGB, a police arm of the regime and a danger to the freedom and security of all Americans. Shut it down!”

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton shared the video saying, “So not only did FBI obstruct its own investigation of Hunter and Joe Biden but encouraged censorship of Americans just before the elections to protect Joe Biden! Absolutely criminal.”
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif) shared his thoughts saying, “The FBI colluded with Big Tech to silence news stories weeks before the 2020 election in an attempt to control your access to information. Democrats in Congress have been intentionally ignoring the facts. When Republicans are back in charge, we will hold all of them accountable.”
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo) also took the FBI to task tweeting, “So the FBI preemptively warned Facebook off Hunter Biden laptop reporting. This same agency effectively laundered Russian disinfo in the 2016 election in the form of Steele dossier. And later lied to a court to get wiretaps.”
CPAC Chair Matt Schlapp didn’t pull any punches, seeming to connect the FBI’s request to Facebook and the accusations that the FBI prompted would-be kidnappers of Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D).
When the FBI wasn't staging the kidnapping of a Democrat governor before the 2020 election, they were working with Big Tech companies to censor the Hunter Biden laptop, which they had in their possession the whole time and knew was a national security risk.

Schlapp appeared to implicate the law enforcement agency in both incidents saying, “When the FBI wasn’t staging the kidnapping of a Democrat governor before the 2020 election, they were working with Big Tech companies to censor the Hunter Biden laptop, which they had in their possession the whole time and knew was a national security risk.”
