Oh, they really thought no one would notice. A shadowy mix of billionaires, academics, and government scientists spent years plotting a multimillion-dollar plan to literally dim the sun — and their grand stage? The flight deck of a retired aircraft carrier, of course. Because if you’re going to tamper with the planet’s thermostat, better to do it with style, right?

Here’s the part where things get deliciously dystopian: this wasn’t just some quirky science fair project. This was step one in a sprawling effort to manipulate Earth’s weather using saltwater aerosols and high-tech sprayers across an area larger than Puerto Rico. The goal? Manufacture clouds that reflect sunlight away from the planet. The reason? Because, obviously, throttling our fossil fuel use and letting the economy breathe is just too boring for the climate elite.

They called it “Marine Cloud Brightening.” Sounds harmless enough—like a spa treatment for the atmosphere. But dig into over 400 internal documents, emails, and texts, and you’ll find a playbook riddled with secrecy, political maneuvering, and a good ol’ fashioned disdain for public oversight. These geniuses ran their first “test” in Alameda — without bothering to tell the city. That experiment, by the way, lasted a whopping 20 minutes before local officials pulled the plug faster than you can say “chemtrails.”

But don’t think for a second that this was a one-off. Behind that micro-test was a sprawling blueprint for a mega-experiment stretching from the U.S. west coast to Chile and South Africa. And the cast of characters? A who’s who of Silicon Valley power-brokers, climate nonprofits, and federal agency insiders. Think Shark Tank meets The Day After Tomorrow.

There are many extreme and potentially deadly geoengineering projects happening.

Here’s one where researches were trying to block out the sun!!

And yes, the same people who lecture the public about “trusting the science” conveniently forgot to mention to the people of Alameda — or anyone, really — that they were prepping a global-scale weather experiment. Not exactly the “transparency” we’re used to hearing about from our enlightened betters. Their justification? They didn’t want to “scare” the locals. How reassuring.

Meanwhile, they had already been seeking access to government ships and aircraft. That’s right — federal hardware and taxpayer resources were very much part of the plan, even though the test hadn’t even passed local muster. That dream quickly evaporated when the Trump administration came back into power — thankfully putting a hard brake on federal support for this kind of planetary-scale playing-God fantasy.

You’d think a failed test and public outrage would be enough to shut things down. Nope. These folks still think they’re the heroes of their own climate thriller. Their justification? Climate change is so dire, we can’t afford not to do this. What they don’t say is: they can’t afford you knowing about it.

Dim the Sun? Who Approved This?

A secretive group of Silicon Valley billionaires and academics is planning to spray chemicals over 3,900 square miles—testing tech to artificially block sunlight.

No public debate.
No democratic consent.
No clue what the consequences will be.… pic.twitter.com/QgtFcQqypp

And here’s the real kicker — they had a PR strategy ready to go. Emails show they were coordinating media talking points, hiding key info from NPR reporters, and planning happy hours in San Francisco skyscrapers with billionaires and NGO reps. Imagine plotting to tweak the climate and celebrating with cocktails at Salesforce Tower like it’s just another Tuesday.

Even when the Alameda City Council blocked them, unanimously, these climate cowboys didn’t throw in the towel. They regrouped. They hired new PR firms. They floated ideas for a post-election comeback, hoping maybe — just maybe — the public will forget that time they tried to launch a secret weather weapon from a Navy museum.

So no, this isn’t just about clouds. It’s about control. Control of the narrative. Control of science. And ultimately, control over the literal sky above your head.

And if you thought you were being asked to “trust the science,” maybe it’s time to ask whose science — and who’s paying for it.
