A representative from former President Donald Trump referred to independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as a “leftie loonie” after he claimed Trump asked him to be his running mate.
Kennedy’s assertion was made Monday with a post on X, formerly Twitter.
“President Trump calls me an ultra-left radical. I’m soooo liberal that his emissaries asked me to be his VP. I respectfully declined the offer,” Kennedy wrote. “I am against President Trump, and President Biden can’t win.”
“Judging by his new website, it looks like President Trump knows who actually can beat him,” Kennedy said.
The HuffPost reported Kennedy’s post was to Trump writing on Truth Social that Kennedy was a better option for Democrats than incumbent President Joe Biden.
When asked about this possible pairing, Trump campaign adviser Chris LaCivita dismissed the post, saying: “Your a leftie loonie that would never be approached to be on the ticket..sorry!”
A post Trump made on Truth Social in March seemed to show what Trump thinks of Kennedy, according to The Hill.
“RFK Jr. is the most Radical Left Candidate in the race, by far. He’s a big fan of the Green New Scam, and other economy killing disasters,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “I guess this would mean he is going to be taking votes from Crooked Joe Biden, which would be a great service to America.”
“Expect him, and her, to be indicted any day now, probably for Environmental Fraud! He is Crooked Joe Biden’s Political Opponent, not mine. I love that he is running!”

Several skeptics doubted Kennedy’s claim:
On the other hand, others were on board.
