Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter’s “family favorite” homemade strawberry cake recipe is being shared following her death.

On Tuesday, the official U.S. National Archives posted a photo of the “Carter family favorite” recipe from RosalynnCarter on X, formerly known as Twitter, in her honor.

“Today, we honor the remarkable legacy of Rosalynn Carter, whose warmth touched the nation. As we remember her, we share one of her favorite recipes—a classic strawberry cake—reflecting the sweetness she brought to so many,” the caption reads.

The ingredients for the beloved recipe consisted of one package of yellow or white cake mix, strawberry Jell-O, cooking oil, chopped nuts, eggs, flour, and strawberries.

Per the instructions, once the ingredients are mixed and “beat well,” bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees and then serve plain or with whipped cream.

On Nov. 19 at 2:10 pm, Rosalynn Carter died at home with her family by her side, according to the Carter Center. Her cause of death has not been revealed. She was 96.

Following her passing, former President Jimmy Carter, 99, remembered his wife of 77 years, who was celebrated for being a mental health and women’s rights advocate, in a heartfelt statement.

“Rosalynn was my equal partner in everything I ever accomplished,” he shared. “She gave me wise guidance and encouragement when I needed it. As long as Rosalynn was in the world, I always knew somebody loved and supported me.”

The couple’s son, Chip Carter, 73, remembered his mother as “loving” and “extraordinary First Lady.”

“My mother was a great humanitarian in her own right. Her life of service and compassion was an example for all Americans,” he said.

Chip Carter continued, “She will be sorely missed not only by our family but by the many people who have better mental health care and access to resources for caregiving today.”

According to People, Rosalynn Carter will be buried at the home she shared with her husband since 1961 in Plains, Georgia.

Her private and public memorials will take place after the Thanksgiving holiday beginning on Nov. 27.
