Actress Roseanne Barr’s son came to her defense after she received backlash for denying the Holocaust.
On June 27, Barr’s son, Jake Pentland, spoke to TMZ, claiming his mother wasn’t being serious after she alleged the Holocaust was fake on comedian Theo Von’s podcast, “This Past Weekend.”
“We are embarrassed that people are stupid enough not to recognize Roseanne is being sarcastic,” he said.
He later added, “We think it’s funny that people are so stupid. Let’s stop doing this clickbait sh*t, we need to focus on big problems in America.”
Furthermore, Pentland, who co-hosts “The Roseanne Barr Podcast” with his mother, maintained the clip was taken out of context and only “morons” would focus on that.
Von also defended Barr, 70, in the caption of the viral clip on his Twitter page.
“Here is the full clip of Roseanne Barr obviously using sarcasm and satire. She is a mensch and one of the funniest people i’ve (sic) ever met,” he wrote.
Known for making controversial statements in the past, Barr’s former “Roseanne” co-star, John Goodman, spoke to Variety and revealed whether he felt regret for defending her following the immense backlash she received for racist tweets she made in 2018 toward Valerie Jarrett. Jarrett, a black woman, was a senior adviser to Barack Obama during his presidency.
“No. At the time I remember going to some kind of junket where they saw the pilot, and then the interviews and it just turned into attack,” he said.
Goodman added the attacks toward Barr made him “very uncomfortable.” He also stated he loved her and said, “She’s just her own person.”

During her appearance on Von’s podcast, Barr, who referred to herself as “all Jewish,” spoke about the legitimacy surrounding President Joe Biden’s 2020 election win.
“The election was not rigged. Thirty-six counties can give you 81 million votes. That’s a fact,” she said.
Barr later added, “And that is the truth. And nobody died in the Holocaust, either.”
Continuing, she told Vonn, “Six million Jews should die right now ’cause they cause all the problems in the world.”
“But it never happened. But it never happened — mandated,” she stated.
