Former NFL quarterback Devlin Hodges rejected U.S. women’s soccer star Megan Rapinoe’s claim there was no God after suffering an injury in the first few minutes of her last professional match.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Tuesday, Hodges, 27, reposted the viral clip of Rapinoe, 38, making the statement during a press conference following the National Women’s Soccer League championship where she was forced to leave due to a noncontact injury to her right leg six minutes into the game.

Wow. For those seeing this.

Just know there is a God and he has wonderful plans for those that believe in him! https://t.co/RmkED8eXGh

“Wow. For those seeing this. Just know there is a God and he has wonderful plans for those that believe in him!” he wrote in the caption. Hodges previously played with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Users on Twitter echoed the same sentiments.

“She needs to hear the gospel. This world and your Achilles are temporary, heaven is forever and the only way to get there is through Jesus. Spreading the gospel is the only reason we are even here,” one user wrote, adding, “Jesus Saves!”

Another user wrote, “Whether you believe or not, God still loves you. Whether you find God or not, when you take your last breath, His name will be the last words to cross your lips.”

“God loves everyone enough to allow you the freedom to even reject him. God bless!” the user continued.

Former “SportsCenter” host Sage Steele, who considers herself a “believer,” slammed Rapinoe for her disbelief on X.

“Narcissism at its finest,” she wrote.

This came after Rapinoe said she was “pretty sure” she tore her Achilles tendon during the game in an interview after her team, the Seattle-based OL Reign, lost 2-1 to the NY/NJ Gotham,” according to the Washington Times.

“I thought about it a little bit. I mean, I’m not a religious person or anything, and if there was a God, like, this is proof that there isn’t,” she said during the press conference, adding, “This is f***ed up.”

Shortly after suffering her injury, a stretcher was called. Rapinoe received a standing ovation from a crowd of 25,011 at Snapdragon Stadium as she limped off the field with medical staff by her side, per the Seattle Times.
