House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) is dodging on whether he would consider taking the job as California’s next attorney general.
People are pushing Schiff to take on the position of becoming California’s next attorney general, as CNN’s Chris Cuomo reported during Wednesday night’s interview.
When pressed on if he is “considering” the job,” Schiff responded, “You know I’m not commenting. But I appreciate the question.”
He, however, did not rule out taking on the job.
Schiff added, “I’m confident the governor will pick a worthy successor.”
“You know that’s not going to be enough on this show, Congressman,” Cuomo pushed back. “I know you’re not commenting, but that means you’re not ruling it out. Yes?”
Schiff doubled down that he would not comment on it.
“By not commenting, you understand that that was an opportunity to say, ‘I’m not going to do this,'” Cuomo said.

Xavier Becerra, California’s attorney general, is expected to be narrowly confirmed by the Senate on Thursday to lead the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). There is speculation as to who will replace Becerra if he is confirmed.
