A Republican-led Senate committee released a report this week that presented findings into their investigation into Hunter Biden, who is the son of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

The report comes just over 40 days before the 2020 presidential election and amid accusations from Democrats that the entire investigation is politically motivated and as the political arena has intensified.

In the Senate Homeland Security and Finance Committees’ report, Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.) said that they faced obstacles from Democrats and agencies that failed to comply with requests for documents. The report is titled, “Hunter Biden, Burisma, and Corruption.”

Though there was little revelatory information in the report, it concluded by saying, “Hunter Biden’s role on Burisma’s board negatively impacted the efforts of dedicated career-service individuals who were fighting to push for anticorruption measures in Ukraine.”

However, the report’s executive summary reads:

“What the Chairmen discovered during the course of this investigation is that the Obama administration knew that Hunter Biden’s position on Burisma’s board was problematic and did interfere in the efficient execution of policy with respect to Ukraine. Moreover, this investigation has illustrated the extent to which officials within the Obama administration ignored the glaring warning signs when the vice president’s son joined the board of a company owned by a corrupt Ukrainian oligarch.”

One section of the report took aim at the Democrats on the Senate Homeland Security and Finance Committee, accusing them of “spreading an unfounded conspiracy theory rooted in a foreign-sourced influence campaign publicly identified by the Intelligence Community.”

The 87-page report also took a shot at the media, saying, “Networks of Democratic offices and liberal press outlets have worked to weave fact with fiction in order to construct a false narrative designed to undercut and discredit the Chairmen’s investigation and its eventual findings.”

Democrats have accused Sens. Johnson and Grassley of crafting their investigation as an attempt to boost President Donald Trump in the 2020 election.

Johnson seemed to admit as much, saying in a previous interview, “The more that we expose of the corruption of the transition process between Obama and Trump, the more we expose of the corruption within those agencies, I would think it would certainly help Donald Trump win reelection and certainly be pretty good, I would say, evidence about not voting for Vice President Biden.”

The Senators closed their report by saying, “There remains much work to be done.”
