Former Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard blasted the “Democratic elite,” who she described care more about themselves, adding the American people are “sick and tired” of them.
Fox News host Carley Shimkus asked Gabbard why she thought 69% of Americans felt the country was headed in the wrong direction and why President Joe Biden‘s approval rating was at 40%, according to a recent Reuters/Ipsos Core Political poll. Gabbard explained during a segment of “Fox and Friends” on Thursday morning that Americans were fed up with career politicians.
“I think people are sick and tired of permanent Washington that cares more about their power and their interests,” Gabbard said.
Gabbard announced in October 2022 that she was leaving the Democratic Party, explaining in a video on X, formerly known as Twitter, that she could not stay in “today’s Democratic Party.” She described it as being under the control of “an elitist cabal of warmongers” who seek to “divide” people using racial issues and by stoking “anti-white racism.”
“They are tired, as I am and many others. I was a Democrat for the last 20 years, I left the party late last year out of frustration of the Democrat elite who care more about their own power, their political interests, their personal interests than do about the interests of the American people,” Gabbard said.
According to the Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Aug. 9, 13% of Americans feel that the country is headed in the right direction, while 69% of Americans feel that it is headed in the wrong direction. Around 54% of Americans do not approve of Biden’s job as president while 40% approve of his job, according to the poll.
“Most people, people in my communities there in Hawaii and across the country, they want leaders who are going to put their interest first,” Gabbard said. “The American people need to be the ones who win in these situations rather than one party bickering and fighting with the other.”
Gabbard cited the “lengths” that Democratic elites would go to in order to “preserve their power and gain more,” adding that it was “dangerous for our country.”
