The son of Ryan Routh — who was arrested for his alleged involvement in the second assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump — has now found himself in custody.
The younger Routh faces federal charges related to child pornography.
During a search at Oran Routh’s residence over the weekend, “hundreds” of files of child pornography were found, investigators said, according to ABC News. The search was “in connection with an investigation unrelated to child exploitation,” which the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Carolina confirmed refers to Ryan Routh.
“The two charges he faces include receipt of child pornography and possession of child pornography,” as the outlet reports.
Prosecutors wrote in the criminal complaint, “A review of the SD card located in Device-1 revealed that it contained hundreds of child pornography files. These files include videos from a known child pornography series created outside the state of North Carolina.”
Per the Associated Press, “Investigators who seized multiple electronic devices found videos sent to Oran Routh in July as well as chats from a messaging application commonly used by people who share child sexual abuse material, the FBI agent said.”
Oran Routh is expected to make the first appearance in court on Tuesday.
His father has been charged with “possession of a firearm as a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number for the incident that took place at Trump International Golf Club on Sept. 15. Prosecutors said Monday they intend to ask a grand jury to consider a charge that Ryan Routh attempted to assassinate Trump,” as ABC News reports.
