A spokesperson for former President Joe Biden announced a small nodule was found in his prostate.
According to the Associated Press, the nodule was found during a routine examination.
“In a routine physical exam a small nodule was found in the prostate which necessitated further evaluation,” a Biden spokesperson told CBS News.
“Prostate cancer may present as a prostate nodule (hard feeling area on the prostate) or elevated PSA test and often results in ordering an MRI and prostate biopsy,” Dr. Herbert Lepor, urologist at NYU Langone told CBS News in an emailed statement.
Biden’s health has been a concern for his fellow Democrats, which resulted in the 82-year-old incumbent withdrawing from the 2024 presidential race.
The former president has downplayed concerns about his health and mental acuity.
Last week, Biden appeared on “The View” with his wife, Jill Biden. Both dispelled rumors of a cognitive decline.
“They are wrong,” Biden said. “There’s nothing to sustain that.”
