Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) is accusing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) of lobbing a “sexist smear” against her amid reports that her name could be in the running to replace Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) and become the No. 3 House Republican.
In a tweet on Thursday, the New York Congresswoman shared a clip of Pelosi suggesting she would be “complaint” and wrote, “A sick sexist smear from Pelosi who will lose her gavel in 551 days. Yet the media doesn’t bat an eye!”
“Imagine if these words were uttered about a Dem woman? Would be outrage coverage & the Speaker would have to resign,” she added.
??”Maybe she’s more, shall we say, compliant?”??

House Republicans have grown frustrated with Cheney over her criticism of former President Donald Trump and her insistence on pushing back on his unfounded claims that the presidential election was stolen.
Earlier this week, she tweeted, “The 2020 presidential election was not stolen. Anyone who claims it was is spreading THE BIG LIE, turning their back on the rule of law, and poisoning our democratic system.”

Now her colleagues are reportedly preparing to hold a vote as early as May 12 to strip her of her leadership role.
Meanwhile, prominent Republicans, including Trump, have endorsed Stefanik as a replacement for the Wyoming Congresswomen.
During an interview on PBS on Wednesday, Pelosi was asked what she thought about Stefanik. She responded, “That’s really up to them. Maybe she’s more, shall we say, compliant. It’s not my business. I don’t really know her.”
As the effort to oust Cheney appeared to be gaining steam, Pelosi’s office took a jab at Republicans by releasing a mock “help wanted” ad that read, “Word is out that House GOP Leaders are looking to push Rep. Liz Cheney from her post as House Republican Conference Chair – their most senior woman in GOP leadership – for a litany of very Republican reasons: she won’t lie, she isn’t humble enough.”
“So what exactly are House GOP Leaders looking for in a #3? Punchbowl AM got the scoop and, well, it’s not surprising… they want a woman who isn’t a ‘threat’ to them,” it added.
