Another day, another headline we’re not supposed to talk about — but somehow, still expected to live with.

Late Friday night, another innocent person in Charlotte, North Carolina, was allegedly stabbed by — you guessed it — an illegal immigrant. This time, the victim was 24-year-old Kenyon Kareem-Shemar Dobie, who was simply riding the light rail when a man, reportedly intoxicated and aggressive, challenged him to a fight and then stabbed him with a large knife. The suspect, Oscar Solorzano, is now facing multiple felony charges, including attempted first-degree murder.

And here’s where the story gets even more outrageous: Solorzano is allegedly in the country illegally. Not just here illegally, but according to ICE, he’s been deported not once, but twice — and still managed to make it back in, undetected, to stab someone on public transit. If this sounds familiar, it should. Just four months ago, a young Ukrainian refugee, Iryna Zarutska, was allegedly murdered in cold blood on another Charlotte train by a man who had also reportedly been deported.

It’s almost like letting people sneak back into the country after multiple deportations might be a bad idea.

President Trump certainly thinks so. After the initial attack earlier this year, he launched “Operation Charlotte’s Web” — a federal crackdown targeting violent crime and illegal immigration in Democrat-run cities where things are spiraling fast. The result? Over 130 undocumented immigrants were reportedly arrested in Charlotte, including individuals facing charges ranging from DUI to aggravated assault. It’s no mystery why federal agents zeroed in on North Carolina. Charlotte’s now a cautionary tale of what happens when soft-on-enforcement policies meet a very real border crisis.

Oscar Gerardo Solorzano-Garcia, an illegal alien from Honduras, is being charged with attempted first-degree murder after he stabbed a victim with a large knife on a train in Charlotte, North Carolina. ICE lodged a detainer to ensure this criminal illegal is not released back… https://t.co/ahgaPSQHYj

But while President Trump is rolling up his sleeves and sending in backup, North Carolina’s own leadership appears more interested in photo ops and press releases. Governor Josh Stein gave the standard “we thank our law enforcement” response, making sure to mention an operation called “Safe Season,” which sounds like something between a Hallmark movie and a vague marketing slogan. What’s it actually accomplishing? So far, not much.

Meanwhile, the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office — which allegedly hasn’t been cooperating with ICE detainers in the past — is now watching as ICE has to step in and once again request that Solorzano be held until they can take custody. You’d think this would be a no-brainer. Violent felon, twice deported, now accused of attempted murder? Just hold the guy. But somehow, in these so-called “sanctuary” pockets of the country, common sense is considered controversial.

Apparently, the death of Iryna Zarutska wasn’t enough.

What is it going to take for @CLTMayor to remove violent criminals off the streets and protect her constituents?

The time to act is NOW. https://t.co/bSHDDw3L0B

And just to really underline how broken this system is: Solorzano was deported in 2018, then again after being caught in 2021, and then — surprise — he reentered again, location and date unknown. So let’s recap. He was removed from the country twice, came back a third time, and only now — after allegedly stabbing a young man on public transportation — is he being held without bond.

But sure, tell us more about how the border is “secure.”

You almost have to wonder — how many more victims does it take before the Left admits there’s a problem? How many more Charlotte commuters have to be hospitalized? How many more young women like Iryna Zarutska have to die before we stop pretending this is normal?

Oh hey @JoshStein_ remember the other day when you were complaining about ICE deporting illegals from Charlotte? https://t.co/q99gjVE8eN

Trump said it best on Truth Social: “What’s going on in Charlotte?” It’s a fair question — and one Democrats don’t seem to want to answer. Maybe because the answer is so damning. This isn’t compassion. This isn’t justice. This is neglect. And it’s putting American citizens — and legal immigrants — directly in harm’s way.

Until every city, red or blue, enforces our immigration laws and cooperates with ICE, stories like this are going to keep happening. And while legacy media outlets continue pretending this is just a fluke or a blip, Americans are paying attention. The border is coming to your backyard — on your trains, in your neighborhoods, at your kids’ schools.

It’s not fear-mongering. It’s reality. And thanks to leadership in Washington that finally prioritizes safety over slogans, at least someone’s doing something about it.
